Columbus Children’s Theatre will collaborate with Short North Stage on Jackie & Me. The drama by Steven Dietz and Dan Gutman focuses on a 10-year-old boy who learns the meaning of courage when he travels back to 1947 and meets Jackie Robinson, the first African-American baseball player in the major leagues.
Lovable loser Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and their friends are the stars of Snoopy!!! — a musical comedy based on the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz.
The finale of the 2015-16 season will be the first major production mounted in central Ohio of the Broadway musical Cats, the feline fantasia created by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and set to poems by T.S. Eliot.
Before the main season gets underway, the company will offer an expanded summer season. The summer schedule begins with The Box Show, conceived by William Goldsmith about a girl who discovers an imaginary friend while surrounded by boxes after moving to a new home with her family. The troupe’s Professional Touring Company will perform the 30-minute one-act, recommended for toddlers (ages 1 to 3).
Other summer shows: Sleeping Beauty, Goldsmith’s one-act adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, with a focus on social issues and conflict resolution; Seussical Jr., a one-act version of the musical, performed by the troupe’s Summer Youth Performance Conservatory (ages 10 to 15); and the high-school musical Grease, to be performed by the troupe’s Summer Pre-
Professional Company (16-year-olds to college students).
